Cars in German Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers reported they were notified by a man who found a automobile in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Approximately fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.

Police report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.

The substance had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.

Officers then discovered numerous other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police say early analysis show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; investigators are currently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the community for details.

A senior representative commented the attack rendered him speechless and had to be resolved rapidly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
