From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features Teor (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look mismatched, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to head next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and warns that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the team enter places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This results in them little choice but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
