Why the Democratic Party is Hiding its Post-Mortem Report on the 2024 Race: The Inside Story.

The move from the DNC to withhold the public viewing of its own autopsy report concerning the 2024 election appears stunning but entirely predictable. Opposed to unpleasant candor, the DNC behaves closer to a PR firm than a political organization devoted to building a volunteer base for winning elections.

A Climate That Avoids Dissent

Unwilling to challenge the party establishment's culture of conformity, the committee has continued within the Biden-Harris shadow all through 2025. Making public such a report would have indicated whether party leaders truly desire to foster open debate regarding the strategic failures that paved the way for the former president to become president again. However, the DNC is proceeding as if there's nothing to glean following the electoral catastrophe from the last cycle.

The top priority: will this lead to victory? Should the answer be negative, it is an unnecessary diversion from the core mission," a rationale that has been offered for withholding the analysis.

Critical Problems an Autopsy Would Have Addressed

A genuine analysis worth its salt would not dodge certain uncomfortable matters. This encompasses:

  • Electoral Disengagement: The loss of millions of voters who supported the Democratic ticket during the previous election became a critical factor in the close recent race.
  • A Decision to Seek Re-election: The stubborn decision of the incumbent to run again, alongside a last-minute exit, has been criticized as denying the party's base of a competitive nomination process.
  • Failing Everyday Americans: During a time of economic anxiety, the electoral effort allegedly ceding to powerful financial backers and not managing to confront the impact of big business.
  • The Foreign Policy Factor: The refusal to shift a stance on the situation in Gaza is cited as driving away many voters, particularly with youth voters, Arab-Americans, Muslim voters.
  • Eroding Youth Support: Extensive evidence indicates a major drop-off of votes for the candidate among the youth electorate.

A Record Avoiding Accountability

This refusal aligns with a longstanding habit of evading uncomfortable facts. It echoes an episode where nearly all elected Democrat in Congress went along with a sitting president's decision for running for re-election right up until a catastrophic public debate performance compelled a reversal.

At the same time, overwhelming numbers of Democratic voters had been repeatedly informing surveyors that they opposed the incumbent to seek re-election.

Financial Issues

A substantive report could probe matters regarding where money went, such as how much money went to high-priced advisors and media firms over the course of a campaign which expended a staggering war chest in a short period.

A Larger Implication

Fundamentally, the secrecy surrounding this report points to a deference to party leaders who engineered a losing national race. The signal for the party's base – which includes millions of dedicated activists – is that they cannot be trusted to understand what party chiefs have learned from a report compiled from feedback from all states.

A party unwilling to honestly assess its own failings will struggle to break free from the rut which was so beneficial to the rival party.
